Forward and route your calls with Answering Rules on Phoneware Edge
Answering Rules control what happens when someone calls you. Each rule is tied to a time frame (see time frames & holidays), so calls can behave differently during business hours, after hours, and on holidays.
- Sign in at edge.phoneware.cloud and open Answering Rules.
- Select Add Rule (or edit an existing one) and pick the time frame it applies to.
- Choose what the rule does:
- Simultaneous ring, ring your desk phone and your cell (and others) at the same time.
- Call forwarding, forward always, or only when busy, unanswered, or offline, to any number.
- Do not disturb, send callers straight to voicemail.
- Call screening, have callers say their name so you can accept or decline.
- Save. Rules are checked top to bottom, and the topmost rule whose time frame matches is the one that runs, so drag your rules into the order you want.
Tip: a common setup is “Open Hours” ringing your desk, and an “After Hours” or “Holiday” rule sending callers to voicemail.
