Forward and route your calls with Answering Rules on Phoneware Edge

Answering Rules control what happens when someone calls you. Each rule is tied to a time frame (see time frames & holidays), so calls can behave differently during business hours, after hours, and on holidays.

  1. Sign in at edge.phoneware.cloud and open Answering Rules.
  2. Select Add Rule (or edit an existing one) and pick the time frame it applies to.
  3. Choose what the rule does:
    • Simultaneous ring, ring your desk phone and your cell (and others) at the same time.
    • Call forwarding, forward always, or only when busy, unanswered, or offline, to any number.
    • Do not disturb, send callers straight to voicemail.
    • Call screening, have callers say their name so you can accept or decline.
  4. Save. Rules are checked top to bottom, and the topmost rule whose time frame matches is the one that runs, so drag your rules into the order you want.

Tip: a common setup is “Open Hours” ringing your desk, and an “After Hours” or “Holiday” rule sending callers to voicemail.
