A Business Telephone System…without Business Telephones

At PHONEWARE Cloud-Based Telecom, we recently had the good fortune of installing a new cloud-based phone system for one of our long-time clients, Burke-Hansen LLC.

Burke-Hansen is real estate appraisal firm, with a mobile workforce, and they were looking for something different in a new business telephone system.

MOBILITY IS THE KEY

The President of Burke-Hansen, Bill Dominick, was intrigued by the cost savings and mobility benefits of cloud-based telecommunications. Typically, mobility is a strength of cloud-based telecom, but mobility features are typically used in conjunction with office VoIP telephones. Bill asked if we could provide some of his staff with mobility features ONLY, and forego office telephones for his staff altogether.

So, PHONEWARE designed and deployed a new cloud-based phone system, with only two physical VoIP phones in the office. One in the president’s office, and one at the receptionist’s desk. All other staff members were assigned extensions and direct dial telephone numbers on the cloud-based phone system, but through use of features such as Easy Call Manager and CommPortal Mobile, these staff use only their mobile phones to conduct business via telephone.

BEYOND THE CAPABILITIES OF A TYPICAL MOBILE PHONE

Mobile phone users on Burke-Hansen’s new cloud-based telephone service can:

  • Receive calls on their office line or extension which are forwarded to their mobile phone.
  • Transfer calls received on their mobile phone to other extensions or phone numbers.
  • Place business calls from their mobile phones but send the caller ID of their office line.
  • Receive voicemail messages in their email inbox on their mobile phone. They receive a transcription of the message, along with an attachment of the actual recording.
  • Control their availability using the CommPortal Mobile app on their iOS or Android phones to activate Do Not Disturb or Call Forwarding on their office line.

NEW TECHNOLOGY, ENHANCED FEATURES, REDUCED COST

Along with the mobility benefits of the new cloud-based telephone system, Burke-Hansen was able to reduce their monthly operating cost for phones from over $500 per month to under $200 per month, a 60% savings.
