Yealink T5-Series Desk Phones have 14 unique ring tones, however, the Phoneware Cloud-Based Telecom System controls the ring tones to identify the type and source of the phone call using a feature called Distinctive Ringing. This way, users can tell by the audible sound of a call whether it is a call from an internal or external party, or if it is a group call such as a call to the main telephone number or department ringing group.
First, here are the first four ring tones on the Yealink T5-series phones and how the Phoneware Cloud-Based phone system forces the use of each one:

Ring tone 1(default): higher pitch, single ring cadence. This is used to indicate a call from an internal extension within the business group. Note that internal calls do not override the selected ring tone, so if a user has selected a custom ring tone, it will only be heard on internal calls, since those are not overridden by the phone system. Click on the sample below to hear this ring tone.

Ring tone 2: higher pitch like ring tone 1, double ring cadence. This is used to indicate a call from an external phone number, either to your subscriber’s direct phone number or to a hunt group that the extension is a member of if that group does not use distinctive ringing. Click on the sample below to hear this ring tone.

Ring tone 3: lower pitch, single ring cadence. This is typically not used, but it can be assigned to a group so that when a call rings into that group, the members of the group will hear this deeper tone, single ring. Click on the sample below to hear this ring tone.

Ring tone 4: lower pitch like ring tone 3, double ring cadence. We typically use this ring tone for calls to a main incoming hunt group. It’s a double ring, which would indicate an outside caller, and the deeper tone indicates that it is a call to a group, but not to a subscriber’s specific direct line. Click on the sample below to hear this ring tone.

Subscribers can also take advantage of a priority caller feature, which also assigns tone 3 or 4 to special callers.

It is possible to turn off the distinctive ringing feature in a customer’s entire phone system so that users can choose their own ring tones. It is even possible to upload custom ring tones to Yealink phones. However, if the distinctive ringing feature is disabled, there will no longer be different ring tones indicating the source or type of call, and all calls will instead choose the ring tone that the subscriber set up on their phone. This would allow using the custom ringing feature of Yealink phones where a custom ring is played based on contact settings loaded into the phone.

Here are the remainder of the Yealink T5 phone custom ring tones:

Ring Tone 5: Single brief burst of ring tone.

Ring Tone 6:  Melody.

Ring Tone 7: Melody.

Ring Tone 8: Melody.

Ring Tone 9: Electronic.

Ring Tone 10: Chimes.

Ring Tone 11: Piano.

Ring Tone 12: Bells melody.

Ring Tone 13: Bells melody.

Custom Ring Tones:

It is also possible to upload custom ring tones into Yealink phones, but this is slightly technical and requires accessing the phone’s web portal to upload the file, as well as creating the ring tone in the correct audio file format. Therefore, we advise against custom ring tones in most cases.
If you would like to enable the ability for your users to set their own custom ring tones on a phone-by-phone basis, we will need to shut off the distinctive ringing feature in the phone system so that it does not force various ring tones to identify call types. To do so, send an email to service@phoneware.us requesting this change.
Note: We can reverse the use of ring tone 1 and ring tone 2 for internal and external calls. This way, since ring tone 1 is not overridden by the phone system and will play whatever the user has selected, by reversing it we can allow the user to select their custom ring tone for external calls. Internal calls would still override and play ringtone 2 (high pitch double cadence).
